What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?
Yeah, read that again. Solitude—with signal. A charged phone, a buzzing stream, a quiet room. A space where the static fades and the signal cuts through, letting me tune in to something just left of this world. Something haunted, weird, brilliant… mine.
My “luxury” is that rare stillness where creation happens. Where Maxwell Marx drifts in from the ghost-town graveyard of my imagination. Where the WDRL stream flickers to life with crackling broadcasts from the edge of the uncanny. Where I’m not hustling, performing, selling—or surviving. I’m just channeling. Downloading something bigger than me through the transmitter of my nervous system.
Jung would call this the meeting place of the ego and the Self. The signal is the archetype calling out from the collective unconscious. The solitude? That’s the ritual space where the encounter is allowed to happen without interruption from the algorithm or the inner critic.
We’ve all got our version of this—our “necessary luxury.” But the trick is, you have to know it. Name it. Protect it.
Because if you don’t… the world will try to replace it for you.
With cheap dopamine. With noise. With shame-wrapped shoulds. And little by little, you’ll lose your signal.
That’s when you stop dreaming. Stop making. Stop tuning in to what you were meant to broadcast.
So here’s my dare, my challenge, my gentle midnight whisper:
What’s your signal? And what luxury do you actually require to receive it?
If you can answer that, you’re not just living—you’re broadcasting.
